Billy Joel cancels all upcoming concerts, including postponed show in Charlotte
Two months after postponing his concert in Charlotte, rock and roll legend Billy Joel has canceled all of the upcoming shows on his tour.
In March, the 76-year-old award-winning singer put a pause on touring to recover from a recent surgery and take on physical therapy, pushing back his stop in the Queen City to July 3, 2026.
On Friday afternoon, it was announced that all of his scheduled performances have been called off due to his recent diagnosis of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus.
“This condition has been exacerbated by recent concert performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision, and balance. Under his doctor’s instructions, Billy is undergoing specific physical therapy and has been advised to refrain from performing during this recovery period,” a statement on his website and Instagram says.
“Billy is thankful for the excellent care he is receiving and is fully committed to prioritizing his health. He is grateful for the support from fans during this time and looks forward to the day when he can once again take the stage.”
The Charlotte concert with Sting, which was the only Southeast stop and the last on the tour lineup, was originally scheduled for Saturday, May 10 — which would have marked his first time back since April 2022.
“I’m sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience, and thank you for understanding,” Billy Joel said.
Fans who got tickets for the show will have refunds automatically processed back to the original payment used for the purchase.
