Tesla is recalling nearly all Cybertrucks due to a defect. What NC owners should know
Tesla is recalling thousands of its vehicles due to a defective part that could endanger other drivers on the road.
The company is recalling more than 46,000 of its Cybertrucks due to a cosmetic exterior trim panel that it said can detach from the vehicle, “increasing the risk of a crash,” CNBC reported.
According to a March 18 filing from Tesla to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the recall includes all Cybertrucks manufactured from November 2023 to February 2025.
There are six Tesla showrooms in North Carolina, according to Tesla’s website, with locations in Raleigh, Durham, Charlotte and Matthews.
The recall news comes amid sweeping protests taking place outside of Tesla showrooms across the country, including in the Triangle and Charlotte area.
A recent protest in Matthews gathered dozens who voiced their opposition of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who is now leading President Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), The Charlotte Observer previously reported.
Jane Hodapp, who has lived in Matthews since 1987, said on Friday, Feb. 28, that she was motivated to join the Charlotte-area protest because she thinks Musk has been given too much power with DOGE, pointing to the recent layoffs of thousands of federal workers under his direction.
For more details on the recall, Cybertruck owners can contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236. You can also visit nhtsa.gov.
