Seven homes mysteriously vanish from mobile home park. Man is arrested, NC cops say
A North Carolina man stole more than a half dozen homes from a mobile home park without anyone interrupting him, according to investigators.
It’s not clear when the homes started disappearing, but it was just after 4 p.m. on June 2 that property managers reported a lot of empty spaces at Green Pines Mobile Home Park, the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office reports.
The mobile home park is about an 80-mile drive southwest from Raleigh.
“H&H Communities called Hoke County Dispatch to advise seven mobile homes were stolen from Green Pines,” the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
“Around 6:34 p.m., H&H Communities called Hoke County Dispatch to advise a stove was being taken from another trailer.”
Deputies arrived in time to stop the suspect — with the stove still in her vehicle — and learned she was acting at the behest of a man who became their chief suspect, officials said.
He was further implicated when a tow truck driver reported the suspect used his services “to move mobile homes to different locations,” officials said.
A search was launched for the man and it came to an end Sunday, June 23, when he was pulled over and arrested during a traffic stop.
He has been charged with eight counts of felony larceny, officials said.
Investigators have not revealed whether all seven homes have been recovered, but three were found in neighboring Harnett County, the sheriff’s office said.
Details of what the suspect intended to do with the mobiles have not been released.
