A dog was returned to North Carolina shelters twice — and now, the “stressed” pup needs a new home, officials said.

Tanner, described as a friendly 3-year-old dog, was up for adoption as of Nov. 21, according to an animal shelter.

“He just wants to belong,” Carolina Animal Rescue & Adoption (CARA) in Sanford wrote on Facebook. “He just wants consistency.”

Tanner, formerly known as CornDog or Corndog, is ready for his next chapter after he was brought to Cumberland County Animal Services due to someone in his family having allergies. More recently, he found a new owner but was surrendered to CARA because he didn’t get along with another dog in his home.

The shelter said the situation left Tanner “super sad” and in need of a place to live for the past few weeks. The dog is known for showing love to “everyone he meets” and also “tap dances when he is excited.”

“I have great energy and would love to play with you all day,” the shelter wrote in an online adoption profile written from Tanner’s perspective. “I am very sweet and would love to snuggle. My all-time favorite thing though is adventures.”

Carolina Animal Rescue & Adoption, based roughly 40 miles southwest of Raleigh, lists more details about its adoption process at cara-nc.org.
