Charlotte finds itself on ‘most likely to get in car accident’ ranking. Here’s why.
Motorists can get into a car accident at any time, but the odds are higher in Charlotte than in most cities, according to a new report.
Forbes Advisor published the report of where you’re most likely to get into a car crash using information on collision locations across the United States from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Allstate.
The report included the largest 50 cities in the country as measured by the 2020 U.S. Census Bureau.
“The top cities for traffic accidents can be found all across the United States, but some of the highest risk areas are concentrated along the coasts and in metro areas with large populations and limited public transportation systems,” the Forbes report states.
Where does Charlotte rank?
Of the cities listed by Forbes, Charlotte ranked 12th behind Portland, Oregon, and Los Angeles, respectively. Charlotte’s fatality rate per 100,000 people was 11.2. The average time between collisions was 7.78 years, and the relative collision likelihood was 36%.
