Mystery NC lottery winner emerges to claim $1 million. Second winner unknown.

One of two big Mega Millions winners in North Carolina last week claimed her $1 million prize at lottery headquarters in Raleigh Monday, officials said.

Another winning ticket — bought in Guilford County and worth $10,000 to its owner — remains unclaimed as of Tuesday. The ticket, purchased through Online Play on NCLottery.com, matched four of the five white balls and the yellow, according to the lottery.

For the big prize, Belmont resident Yolunda Shannon won on a $2 Quick Pick ticket at Food Lion on Highland Street in Mount Holly, according to a lottery news release.

The ticket matched all five white balls — 10, 24, 48, 51 and 66 — officials said.

That beat odds of 1 in 12.6 million, according to the Mega Millions game page on NCLottery.com.

After taxes, Shannon took home $712,501, according to the lottery.

Shannon didn’t say what she’ll do with the money when she claimed her prize, officials said. She couldn’t be reached by The Charlotte Observer Tuesday.

Shannon joined two other $1 million winners nationwide, both in California.
