With $1 ticket, a NC woman hit her second lottery jackpot, officials say
A Matthews woman snared her second lottery jackpot in five years, this time on a $1 ticket in a popular nightly game, N.C. lottery officials said Thursday.
Nha Duong matched the white balls in Friday’s Cash 5 drawing, landing her a $336,759 jackpot, according to a lottery news release.
She beat odds of 1 in 962,598, according to the Cash 5 page on NCLottery.com.
The winning numbers were 17, 28, 31, 35 and 41.
After taxes, she took home $239,941, officials said.
She bought the Quick Pick ticket at Circle K on Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Matthews, officials said.
Duong didn’t say what she’ll do with the money when she claimed her prize at lottery headquarters in Raleigh Wednesday, officials said. She couldn’t be reached by The Charlotte Observer Thursday.
In 2018, she hit a $1 million jackpot in the Hit $5,000 scratch-off gain October 2018.
Cash 5 numbers are drawn nightly. Thursday’s jackpot sits at $120,000.
Cash 5 and five other North Carolina games let players buy their tickets at a retailer and through Online Play, which is available on NCLottery.com and the lottery app.
