$1.2 million lottery ticket sold in North Carolina, but no one has claimed the prize

A lottery player in North Carolina won a $1.2 million prize — but hasn’t claimed it.

Someone is getting the big windfall after hitting the jackpot in the Carolina Cash 5 game, the N.C. Education Lottery said Friday in a news release.

The lucky ticket was sold at a Speedway in Fayetteville. Officials say the convenience store is on Yadkin Road and roughly five miles southeast of Fort Bragg.

The ticket matched enough numbers in Thursday’s drawing to make it worth $1.2 million, according to the N.C. Education Lottery. The prize was the seventh-highest won in the Cash 5 game.

Now, officials are urging lottery players to “check those tickets” for the winning numbers: 2-20-27-35-40.

If you’re the lucky ticket holder, you still have time to come forward. Winners have about six months to claim their prizes, according to the lottery.
