Kidnapped pregnant woman found safe, suspect now in custody, North Carolina cops say
A pregnant woman was found safe after a kidnapping early Friday morning, North Carolina police say.
The Wilmington Police Department had been searching for a 32-year-old woman, who was taken at about 2 a.m. near South Kerr Avenue, according to a Facebook post.
Police made the announcement just before 7:30 a.m. and posted about an hour later that she had been found.
Officers say they also tracked down James Waters, 38, who is suspected of abducting the mom-to-be at knifepoint. At the scene of the kidnapping, police found a male who Waters stabbed during an argument, according to cops.
Waters “was arrested for Kidnapping, and Assault Inflicting Serious Injuries, and is being held without bond,” police said Friday afternoon in a news release.
