Substitute teacher urinated in cup as middle school students watched, NC cops say
A substitute teacher in eastern North Carolina is facing indecent exposure and disorderly conduct charges after he allegedly urinated in a cup as students looked on, according to WWAY and other news outlets.
The incident happened Tuesday morning at Williston Middle School and school staff learned of it from students, the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office told the station.
Darvin Bernard Greene, 57, was fired and arrested, with his bond set at $5,000, WECT reported. Records show he has already bonded out of the New Hanover County jail.
The alleged incident happened in a classroom, according to the Port City Daily. However, it has not been reported if a class was in session at the time, or how many students were present. The school is for students in grades sixth through eighth, according to PublicSchoolReview.com.
New Hanover County school board chair Lisa Estep issued a statement expressing “regret” to the Port City Daily and other news outlets.
“The school system acted immediately, conducted an internal investigation, and then quickly notified law enforcement,” Estep was quoted telling the StarNewsonline. “This board stands ready to take action against any teacher, staff member, or administrator who ... compromises the safety or well being of our students.”
