Mike Bloomberg returning to Charlotte for NC Democratic fundraising event

Democratic presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg will return to Charlotte Feb. 29 — the day of the South Carolina primary and three days before North Carolina votes on Super Tuesday.

Bloomberg will appear at a state party fundraiser called Blue NC.

He’ll join national Democratic Party Chairman Tom Perez as well as Gov. Roy Cooper, Chief Justice Cheri Beasley, Secretary of State Elaine Marshall, and state party Chairman Wayne Goodwin.

“We are excited to have Mike back in town and to join so many of our friends at the North Carolina Democratic Party in celebrating the work we are all going to do together to build the party up strong over the next year,” Bloomberg State Director James Mitchell, a Charlotte City Council member, said in a statement.

Bloomberg is currently third in Real Clear Politics polling average after former Vice President Joe Biden and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

A state party spokesman said other candidates have also been invited.

The evening event will take place at Hilton Charlotte University Place hotel.
