McDonald’s new Happy Meal comes with ‘two faves in one’ toy. When can you get it?
McDonald’s newest Happy Meal is the stuff of Saturday morning cartoon fantasies — if you’re into radioactive turtles and bow-wearing kittens.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Hello Kitty and Friends Happy Meal arrives Tuesday, Aug. 12, at participating McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, the fast food giant said on Facebook.
“Two faves in one?? Try to get ‘em...,” McDonald’s captioned the post, which drew more than 11,000 comments.
Each meal includes one of 12 figurines inspired by the beloved franchises, featuring crossover characters such as Hello Kitty x Raphael and My Melody x Leonardo toys, food blogger Snackolator shared in an Instagram post.
The TMNT x Hello Kitty mashup was previously offered in Malaysia and only featured eight collectibles, according to McDonald’s. Now, the beloved meal is headed stateside.
Pricing information wasn’t immediately available.
McClatchy News reached out to McDonald’s for more information Aug. 5 and was awaiting a response.
It’s the latest iteration of the burger giant’s classic kid’s meal, which hit menus nationwide in 1979 and included puzzles, stencils and other toys, the Chicago Tribune reported in 2019.
More recently, McDonald’s tapped into childhood nostalgia with the launch of the limited-time Lil McDonald’s Happy Meal, McClatchy News reported.
Each included one of 21 mini figurines “inspired by what families see at our restaurants,” according to McDonald’s.
“As a parent, there’s something magical about watching your child’s imagination come to life with these tiny toys,” Anna Engel, director of marketing, brand, content and culture for McDonald’s USA, said at the time.
Beyond the toys, every Happy Meal includes customer’s choice of a hamburger, 4-count or 6-count chicken McNuggets, according to the restaurant’s website. It also comes with a kid’s fry, apple slices and a choice of drink.
