Dad ‘distraught’ when 4-year-old goes missing, CO cops say. She was on an ‘adventure’

A dad’s day took a scary turn when he realized his 4-year-old daughter was missing, Colorado officials said.

On Sept. 16, a “distraught” Weld County father called 911 when he didn’t know where his daughter was, according to a Sept. 20 Facebook post from the sheriff’s office.

An officer was near the area so he was responding to the call when he got a report of a woman out with the missing girl, officials said.

It turned out the girl had plans for an “adventure,” officials said.

It was an 8-mile journey to her grandma’s house, Melissa Chesmore, the public relations officer with the Weld County Sheriff’s Office told McClatchy News in a statement.

“Did you go on an adventure?,” Deputy Brian Fortin can be heard saying in a video shared on Facebook.

Eventually the little girl was brought back to her dad in a tear-filled reunion, officials said.

The little explorer told the officer there were plans in place to go visit her grandma, the video showed.

The girl’s crying dad confirmed that his daughter hadn’t looped him in on the excursion, officials said.

Weld County is about a 70-mile drive northeast of Denver.
