House built for legendary Hollywood star stuns in California. See for yourself

While some may not recognize her name today, which is a shame, Greta Garbo will forever be known as one of Hollywood’s most legendary actors of the silent film era. Considered a force of nature, the Swedish-American Garbo was known for her performances in “A Woman of Affairs” and “Anna Karenina.” And, despite retiring at age 35, she ranks fifth on the American Film Institute’s Greatest Female Stars of Classic Hollywood.

And now, a trophy estate that was built specifically for the screen legend has hit the real estate market in Beverly Hills for $12 million.

The stunning six-bedroom, six-bathroom home sits perched on a Southern California hillside, overlooking downtown Los Angeles, the listing on Compass describes.

”The property views are incredible and the location is ideal,” listing agent Mark Mintz said in a news release. “Very private, secluded, in the hills, yet close to the Sunset Strip and Beverly Hills.”

The home was built for Garbo in 1937 with her most legendary line in mind, according to Elle Decor.

“The architect’s guiding principle was to fulfill Garbo’s most famous wish, ‘I just want to be left alone,’” Elle Decor reported. “Small windows and towering exterior walls intentionally sacrificed the hilltop lot’s spectacular views in exchange for the elusive starlet’s much-desired privacy.”
