14-year-old trapped in mud up to his armpits in swampy water, Utah police say
A 14-year-old was walking through swampy water in Utah when he started to sink.
Before long, he was trapped in mud up to his armpits, deputies said.
Deputies from the Weber County Sheriff’s Office rushed to Farr West on Wednesday, May 25, after hearing a teen was trapped.
“Deputies acted quickly and deployed throw ropes they keep in their patrol trucks,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
Officials pulled the boy out of the mud, and he was reunited with his family. The sheriff’s office did not disclose the boy’s identity or say if he was injured.
A photo posted to Facebook by the sheriff’s office shows the boy covered in mud. The mud went up to his shoulders over most of his body.
“The boy was pulled out of the sticky situation and reunited with family,” deputies said. “Not to worry, a little Tide and that shirt will be as good as new.”
Farr West is about 45 miles north of Salt Lake City.
