A 29-year-old snowboarder died after a fall in Big Sky, Montana, police said.

Chandler Pelletier loved the feeling of sliding down a snowy, ice-covered hill, his sister said.

The 29-year-old spent lots of time in the mountains and worked at the Big Sky Resort in Montana, according to his social media.

On Wednesday, March 23, he was found unresponsive on Lone Mountain at the Big Sky ski resort and died from his injuries, the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office said.

Big Sky Ski Patrol found Pelletier unresponsive on Lone Mountain after he experienced a fall, according to the sheriff’s office. Officials rushed to help him and began resuscitation efforts, but they were unsuccessful.

The sheriff and coroner’s offices are investigating the cause and manner of death.

“Sheriff Dan Springer would like to express his sorrow to Mr. Pelletier’s family and friends for their tragic loss,” officials said March 25 on Facebook.

Friends and family members said Pelletier left a large, positive impact on the people around him.

“He sure did leave a positive impact,” one person said on Facebook. “It has been amazing watching (him) live life to the fullest.”

Pelletier’s sister, Chantalle, said he was one of a kind and whose love for outdoor adventure led to a special bond between them.

“It seems unbearable and impossible for me to imagine my world without my adventurous, silly face making, pestering, and oh so sweet baby brother,” she wrote on Facebook. “There are some people in this world that make life a little brighter, who make your heart happy simply with their presence.”
