A 54-year-old woman died after plunging 50 feet from a cliff in Hawaii, fire officials told multiple news outlets.

The woman fell from a steep cliff onto a rocky shoreline in Kaupo on March 11, Maui County Fire Department said and the Hawaii News Now reported.

Kaupo is a small, remote town on Maui’s southeastern coastline.

Fire crews responded to the call around 1:41 p.m.

Medical responders pronounced the woman dead at the bottom of the cliff, officials said.

The fire department did not immediately respond to McClatchy News’ request for more information.

The woman’s fall isn’t the first time someone has plunged from a Hawaii cliff.

A rock climber fell 25 feet from a cliff in Oahu in February. He survived the fall but had multiple injuries.

In January, a 35-year-old hiker plunged 100 feet from a ridge in Kailua a town on the island of Oahu.

A Hawaii man was stranded after jumping into a swim area called the “End of the World” at the beginning of January. Swimmers jump from 30 to 35 feet but can get stuck in the water if they can’t climb back up the cliff.
