A hiker taking a photo slipped and plunged 700 feet to his death, Arizona police told news outlets.

Richard Jacobson, a 21-year-old camper, died on a trail Monday, Jan. 24, after he fell from the Flatiron Summit in Lost Dutchman State Park, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office told AZ Family.

“Jacobson went to go take a photograph with himself and the city skyline in the background, and he lost his footing, and he slipped, and he fell,” Sergeant Doug Peoble told AZ Family.

One of Jacobson’s friends called 911 just after midnight Monday to report he had fallen off the mountain, Fox 10 reported.

His body was recovered 700 feet below where the group had been camping, deputies told the news outlet.

Jacobson’s body was recovered with the help of an Arizona Department of Public Safety helicopter, 12 News reported.

There were no signs of foul play, Peoble told the news outlet.

“I can tell you that during our investigation, there no signs of foul play,” Peoble told Fox 10. “No signs of drug use whatsoever. It was just a very tragic accident.”
