He played the same numbers 20 times — and hit a big lottery jackpot in Virginia
A man played the same numbers 20 times — and earned a big lottery payout in Virginia.
After winning $100 with a pair of scratcher tickets, Ramsey Wells decided to try his luck on the Pick 4 game, according to the Virginia lottery.
Wells bought 20 tickets on Oct. 6 with the same four-digit combination of 1-2-2-9 — and won $100,000, lottery officials said.
“I don’t believe it,” he told lottery officials in a news release.
Wells, who lives in Fincastle, bought the tickets at Kroger on 72 Kingston Drive in Daleville, according to the lottery service.
He won a top prize of $5,000 for each ticket — totaling a grand prize of $100,000.
Wells told lottery officials he plans to use his winnings to pay bills.
Drawings in the Pick 4 game are held daily at 1:59 p.m. and 11 p.m., according to the lottery service.
A $1 ticket will win players a top prize of $5,000. The odds of matching all four numbers in the same order are 1 in 10,000.
