Fugitive llama named Todd escapes for 2nd time in a week, North Carolina officials say
There’s a llama on the run ― and he goes by the name Todd.
The fugitive llama was first seen running through a residential Emerywood neighborhood in High Point on Oct. 29, according to High Point police.
Animal control teamed up with wildlife rescue expert John Deal to capture the llama, which they named Todd, and took him to Red Dog Farm, police said.
The plan was to keep Todd at the farm for 72 hours and wait for his owner to show up, police said.
But Todd had plans of his own. He hopped the fence and ran away ― again, WGHP reported.
“Apparently he decided that our accommodations, although technically suitable for him, did not meet his standards,” Lauren Riehle from Red Dog Farm told the outlet. “So despite our appropriate fencing and plenty of friends, water and food here for him, he decided that he wanted to continue his grand adventure here in Stokesdale, as opposed to High Point.”
Now officials with Rockingham and Guilford counties are trying to find the llama, the outlet said. Residents say the llama doesn’t seem to be afraid of people, WFMY reported.
Anyone who sees the llama can call Guilford County Animal Control at (336) 641-5990 or Rockingham County Animal Control at (336) 634-3300.
Stokesdale is about 95 miles northeast of Charlotte.
