Videos catch early morning fireball streaking across sky in Arizona, Southwest

A fireball caught on video streaking across the early morning sky in Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and California about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday had residents buzzing, AZ Family reports.

“This does appear to be a bright meteor as observations are spread out from Southern California, southern Utah, and Arizona,” said Robert Lunsford with the American Meteor Society, KNXV reported.

The American Meteor Society site says it has received more than 50 reports of the fireball.

Arizona television stations posted multiple doorbell camera videos of the fireball sent in by viewers Others were posted to YouTube.

“This is the best time of the month to view meteor activity as the moon will not be a factor at all,” the society says on its Meteor Activity Outlook page.
