A Raleigh high school student was arrested Monday on multiple felony charges after allegedly filming inappropriate videos of teachers.

Jaden Isiah Tyler Pompey, 18, is charged with 14 counts of felony secret peeping, court records show. He also faces a charge of misdemeanor secret peeping, but he had already been arrested on that charge March 2.

Pompey is accused of using his cellphone to film up the skirts of at least two different teachers at Wakefield High School in Raleigh at least four times between Feb. 12 and Feb. 27, according to arrest warrants. His misdemeanor charge stems from a March 2 incident when he allegedly filmed one of the teachers’ classrooms without her knowledge.

Pompey originally posted a $5,000 secured bond on the misdemeanor charge but is being held without bail after being arrested Monday on the felony charges, court records show. If he posts bail, he will be forbidden from contacting the reported victims or going to Wakefield High School or any Wake County Public School System properties.

A LinkedIn profile appearing to belong to Pompey lists him as a senior at the school. It wasn’t immediately clear Monday morning if he was still enrolled at the high school.

Pompey is now attending SCORE Academy, an alternative school offering asynchronous virtual courses and virtual blended learning for students who have violated student disciplinary policy, according to the school system. Wakefield High School families were notified of the incident Monday, a school system spokesperson said.

In the letter sent to families, the school system said the investigation into Pompey began after he “attempted to take an inappropriate video of a staff member” March 2.

“We immediately notified WCPSS Security and the Raleigh Police Department,” the letter said. “Law enforcement began an investigation and charged the student with misdemeanor secret peeping.”

The 14 felonies came after “additional evidence” emerged through the investigation, according to the letter.

“We were unable to notify you about this incident prior to the arrest due to the ongoing investigation,” the letter states. “I want to assure you that we take the safety of our students and staff members very seriously.”

The Police Department did not respond to an inquiry from The News & Observer on Monday.
