A shooting in eastern Wake County that killed one man and injured four others happened after an outdoor party drew thousands to the area.

The shooting took place at 10:40 p.m. Wednesday outside Zebulon at the corner of Mack-Todd Road and West Barbee Street, the Wake County Sheriff’s Office said.

Lemonz Feikhem Williams, 21, was killed.

Two people were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, the Sheriff’s Office said. Two others, one of whom was a juvenile, checked themselves into a hospital with non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

As of Friday afternoon, no one had been charged in the shooting.

Before the shooting, party entertainment service MagiQ City Entertainment hosted an “Oil Spill” outdoor party from 3 to 10 p.m. Wednesday. MagiQ City posted a recap of the party on its Instagram on Thursday.

Almost 4,500 people signed up to attend, according to the online event details. Several Facebook users commented and posted about the massive crowd and traffic backups around the area before the shooting.

Instagram account “centraldaze,” an account geared toward N.C. Central University students, promoted the party in an April 4 collaboration post with MagiQ City. An NCCU spokesperson said in a Thursday statement the university was not aware of any students harmed in the shooting and did not sanction or sponsor the event.

MagiQ City’s bio says it is not affiliated with Omega Psi Phi, the fraternity associated with Oil Spill parties. (Omega Psi Phi’s unofficial punch recipe is known colloquially as oil, hence the name “Oil Spill.”)

Event details list the address as 1300 Mack-Todd Road — the same address as Todd’s Park, family-owned land “transformed into a venue creating cultural experiences,” according to its Facebook page. It hosts an annual “Biggest Bonfire on Earth.”

It is unclear if the shooting took place on Todd’s Park, if MagiQ City or Todd’s Park obtained a permit for the party or what security measures organizers were in place. The News & Observer reached out to both MagiQ City and Todd’s Park for comment.

Across the Triangle, residents in rural areas have expressed frustration about big outdoor parties near where they live. Neighbors in rural Durham County raised concerns in 2025 about a property where Duke students held loud and disruptive parties, The N&O previously reported.

The owner of Smokehouse Valley Farm in rural Orange County was charged in May 2025 with allowing underage drinking after an outdoor party drew thousands, The N&O reported. Those charges were dropped, Smokehouse Valley Farm wrote in a Facebook statement on April 9.

In 2018, a high school senior was fatally shot after a Halloween party at Smokehouse Valley Farm, The N&O previously reported. Orange County Sheriff Charles Blackwood said at the time that the student was an innocent bystander to a fight that broke out after the party.
