1 dead, 4 in hospital after Wednesday night shooting in Wake County
The Wake County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide after a Wednesday night shooting that also sent four people to the hospital.
Deputies responded to a report of a shooting at the intersection of Mack Todd Road and West Barbee Street just outside of Zebulon around 10:40 p.m. Wednesday and found two males who had been shot. They were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
Deputies also found a third person suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, according to a news release. They tried to save him, but he died at the scene. The Sheriff’s Office identified the man as Lemonz Feikhem Williams on Thursday afternoon. Williams was 21.
A fourth and fifth person, a man and a boy, walked into a local hospital with apparent gunshot wounds, the release stated. Their injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.
As of Thursday morning, the Sheriff’s Office did not have anyone in custody.
The intersection of West Barbee Street and Mack Todd Road was closed as deputies investigated.
“On behalf of the entire Wake County Sheriff’s Office, we extend our sincere condolences to the victim’s family and all affected by this tragedy,” Sheriff Willie Rowe said. “Violence has no place in Wake County, and our investigators will work tirelessly to ensure those responsible are held accountable. I am also keeping those who were injured in my thoughts and prayers, along with the first responders who acted swiftly and with care in a difficult situation.
