North Carolina State University said a rape happened on campus Thursday.

The reported sexual assault took place at Bragaw Hall, the university said in a WolfAlert.

A student reported the assault and described the suspect as a 17-year-old male, about 6 feet 3 inches tall, 200 pounds with short brown hair wearing a white shirt and black athletic shorts.

The suspect has been identified, NC State said, but is not in custody.

On Tuesday, NCSU Police told ABC11 that it could not comment on active cases.

“Based on the information we have gathered, the suspect was known to the reporting victim, and there is no ongoing threat to campus,” campus police said. Our students have a variety of resources and support available to help ensure they never have to navigate a difficult situation alone.”

Students can file a report or discuss investigative options by calling 919-515-3000. Counseling services are also available, and the NC State Women’s Center has trained advocates who support survivors of interpersonal violence and help navigate healing and recovery.
