Durham police have charged a man with murder after a 32-year-old woman was found fatally shot on Linwood Avenue late Saturday night.

Police responded at 11:06 p.m. to a report of a gunshot wound in the 1100 block of Linwood Avenue, which is in the Hayti community just south of downtown.

They found Labreya Street of Durham, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Monday, police announced they had arrested Montgomery L. Davis, 51, of Durham and charged him with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

He is being held in the Durham County jail without bail.
