Deputies investigating after Greensboro woman found dead in western Orange County
Orange County sheriff’s investigators have identified a woman found dead Sunday morning about six miles west of Carrboro.
A man walking his dog around 9 a.m. Sunday found the body of 35-year-old Susan Margaret Horkay — commonly known as Skylar Brooks — off Heron Pond Drive, just south off Old Greensboro Road near Elite Auto Body, Orange County officials said in a news release.
Horkay lived in Greensboro, officials said, and investigators think she died less than 24 hours before her body was found.
There was “no obvious cause of death,” the release said. Horkay’s body was sent to the N.C. Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death.
More information will be released as it becomes available, officials said.
