Two weeks after Fourth of July shooting, police name man shot and killed

A man was shot and killed along Robinhood Road in Durham on Tuesday.

Durham police are investigating a July Fourth shooting that left one man dead.

Around 1:40 a.m. Tuesday police were called to the 1500 block of Robinhood Road in East Durham where they found a man who had been shot. Police said he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man has been identified as Gregory Lamont Evans, 52, of Durham.

Police said this homicide “does not appear to be random.”

At least 21 people have been fatally shot in Durham this year, according to police statistics.

As of July 17, no one has been arrested in connection with this killing.
