Pittsboro police are investigating after shots were fired Monday night, June 26, 2023, into the home of a Chatham County, NC, deputy.

Pittsboro police are investigating after someone fired a gun at the home of a Chatham County Sheriff’s Office deputy Monday night.

Pittsboro police officers were called to the deputy’s home on Churchwood Lane Extension around 9:11 p.m. Monday, according to a news release. No one was injured, but someone was home at the time of the shooting, police said.

Chatham County Sheriff Mike Roberson is offering a reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

“The safety and well-being of our officers and their families is of utmost importance to us,” Roberson said. “An attack on a deputy’s home is not just an attack on one person; it is an attack on the values of justice, security, and the rule of law.”

No additional details have been provided about the shooting or the suspects, but police said they are seeking photo or video surveillance footage that someone may have of the area where the shooting occurred.

Anyone with information about the shooting or possible suspects can call the Pittsboro Police Department at 919-542-3200 during normal business hours or 919-542-2911 after hours (ask to speak with an on-duty Pittsboro police officer). Callers also can contact the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office at 919-542-2911.

The story will be updated.
