Chapel Hill police arrest Durham man in shoot-out between cars outside McDonald’s

Chapel Hill police are investigating after someone reported shots fired between two cars on Monday, May 9, 2023, at the McDonald’s restaurant on Fordham Boulevard.

Chapel Hill police arrested a Durham man after investigating a report of shots fired between two cars Monday outside the McDonald’s restaurant on Fordham Boulevard.

Antonio Rogers, 27, was charged Tuesday with discharging a weapon into occupied property, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, assault by pointing a gun, and discharging a firearm in the town limits, police said in an updated release Tuesday afternoon.

Rogers was taken to the Orange County jail, where he was being held under $15,000 secured bail. He is scheduled to appear in court in Hillsborough on Wednesday.

Police started the investigation after someone called 911 around 6:10 a.m. Monday, according to a town news release. The initial investigation found that two people in separate cars fired shots at each other outside the restaurant at 1748 Fordham Blvd., it stated.

No one was injured, and the investigation is continuing, police said in the release. No additional information has been released.
