Man wanted in Raleigh shooting kills himself in WakeMed parking lot, sheriff says
A 48-year-old man identified as a possible suspect in a Wednesday morning shooting in Wake County fatally shot himself hours later, the Wake County Sheriff’s Office said. .
Around 8 a.m. Wednesday, sheriff’s deputies found a man who had been shot on the 2700 block of Covered Wagon Lane. The man, whose name has not been released, had serious injuries and was taken to the hospital, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Deputies identified James Tyrone Davis as a person of interest in the shooting, the release stated.
Hours after the initial shooting, deputies found Davis in the parking lot of WakeMed Hospital near the intersection of Durant Road and Falls of Neuse Road, according to the release.
Around 3 p.m., Davis shot himself, the release stated. He was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Raleigh police are now investigating Davis’ death.
Authorities have not stated the condition of the men who was shot on Covered Wagon Lane.
