Orange County Sheriff’s Office investigating homicide of 26-year-old near Hillsborough
A 26-year-old man died from multiple gunshot wounds Friday morning just outside the Hillsborough town limits, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies responded to a reported shooting outside the 200 building at 405 Thomas Burke Drive, according to a news release. The address is for Heritage Apartments off Orange Grove Road.
The deputies tried to help the man, identified as Ulises Guadalupe Vasquez, but he did not survive.
A K-9 tracked a scent through the woods to nearby Interstate 85, where deputies believe the shooter left the area in a car.
“They have reason to believe this is an isolated event and not a random act of violence,” the release stated.
The Sheriff’s Office did not provide a possible motive for the shooting or any information about a possible suspect or suspects.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Investigator Kevin Stewart at 919-245-2925.
