Video from NC store shows thieves smashed glass, grabbed jewelry, then fled into mall

Police responded to a smash-and-grab robbery in the Triangle Town Center mall Monday morning.

The robbery occurred at the mall’s Regent Jewelers store at around 10 a.m., police say.

Surveillance footage acquired by The News & Observer’s media partner ABC11, shows two suspects, one in a black hoodie and one in a green hoodie, using what looks like a mallet to smash the glass of the jewelry display. The other suspect grabbed merchandise through the smashed case.

An employee was also visible in the video, but she quickly moved out of the frame when a suspect started smashing the glass.

The suspects then ran into the mall’s main area, ABC11 reported.

ABC11 video shows that at least 10 police vehicles were parked near the mall’s Barnes & Noble store after the incident.
