Spate of overnight shootings, stabbings in Raleigh leave 2 dead, 3 injured

Three shootings early Sunday morning in Raleigh left two men dead and another injured, police said.

Another two men were injured in stabbings that Raleigh police believe to be related to one of the shootings.

Raleigh police became aware of the violence just before 1 a.m., when they were called to WakeMed, where a man had arrived with gunshot wounds.

The man had been shot at Fiddle Stix, a gas station at 4400 block of Capital Boulevard in north Raleigh, police said in a news release. His injuries were not life-threatening.

Just before 1:45 a.m., police responded to another report of shots fired, this time in the 300 block of Rush Street in southern Raleigh. Upon arrival, officers found an injured man in the parking lot of Club 30 Plus, a news release release said. The man did not survive.

Officers were then called again to WakeMed, where two men had shown up with stab wounds. Investigators concluded that the Rush Street shooting and the stabbings were related, police said.

Raleigh police received another report of shots fired just before 2:30 a.m., a news release said. Officers found a man with gunshot wounds in an apartment complex in the 1400 block of Crest Road, near North Carolina State University. The man was taken to WakeMed, but did not survive.

Police have not yet released the identities of those killed or injured and have not reported any arrests. A spokeswoman said investigators do not currently have evidence that the shootings were linked, though the possibility is being investigated.

Club 30 Plus is roughly 13 miles southwest of Fiddle Stix. The Crest Road apartment complex is about five miles northwest of Club 30 Plus.
