Police investigating misdemeanor sexual assault on Ellerbe Creek Trail
Police are investigating a misdemeanor sexual assault reported by a runner Sunday afternoon on the Ellerbe Creek Trail near Northgate Park.
A woman told officers she was running on the trail around 3 p.m. when a male rode by her on a bicycle, according to Durham Police Department spokeswoman Kammie Michael. The male turned around, rode up to her and grabbed her buttocks, Michael wrote in a crime alert.
The woman screamed, and he rode away.
The suspect was described as a black male, 18 to 20 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall and 150 to 160 pounds. He was wearing a gray or white hoodie, camouflage pants and a backpack.
