Two lanes at 219 E. Franklin St. in Chapel Hill will be closed Dec. 19 and 20 while Town of Chapel Hill Park Maintenance workers doctor the limb of an old willow oak tree.
The limb is overhanging the street, and is putting stress on the old oak, said Tanner Thompson of the Park Maintenance department. Crews will do some trimming, which will “reduce the amount of time before that whole limb has to be pruned off,” Thompson said.
Both center lanes of Franklin Street, one eastbound and one westbound, will be closed for several hours as work takes place on the hazardous tree limb. Traffic will continue in the two open lanes.
