Orange County deputies investigate stabbing death in Cedar Grove
Orange County deputies are investigating a possible homicide that occurred Saturday morning in the Cedar Grove community.
Deputies responded to a call at 5705 Green Pine Road in Cedar Grove shortly after 8 a.m. When deputies arrived, they found Anthony Latta, 50, who was dead “from apparent stab wounds,” a news release said. Initially, the incident was reported as a cardiac arrest.
The incident did not appear to be random, according to Orange County Sheriff Charles Blackwood.
“Any loss of life is unfortunate; however, this does not appear to be a random act of violence,” Blackwood said. “We are conducting a thorough investigation in to the exact events that led to the death of Mr. Latta.”
Blackwood indicated the stabbing may be related to other criminal behavior.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Investigator Keith Goodwin at (919) 245-2918.
