Detour planned in Orange County beginning Monday, June 5

The N.C. Department of Transportation will close a section of Schley Road in both directions beginning Monday, June 5 while they replace a drainage pipe under the road.

NCDOT bridge maintenance crews will close the road at 9 a.m. Monday and it will remained closed until at least 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, weather permitting.

Motorists traveling through the area should use Mincey Road and N.C. 57 as a 2-mile detour route.

Transportation officials advise drivers to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
