2nd Durham school closing early Monday because of electrical problems

A second Durham school let students out early Monday afternoon because of power problems.

Mangum Elementary School dismissed students at 1:15 p.m. after a blown transformer knocked out power in some buildings and the well system on campus. After-school programs are canceled as well.

Northern High School in Durham closed early Monday afternoon after losing power in some campus buildings.

The school dismissed students at 12:30 p.m. according to a news release. After-school meetings and activities are canceled.

A power outage at the school was first reported at 8:40 a.m., according to a Duke Energy outage map. The estimated time of power restoration is listed as 1:15 p.m.
