ESPN college basketball analyst Dick Vitale is upset with a Major League Baseball trade between the Tampa Bay Rays and the San Francisco Giants and his reaction has ricocheted to Durham.
On Wednesday, the Rays traded crowd favorite and all-star third baseman Evan Longoria to the Giants. Before landing the Majors, Longoria spent parts of several seasons with the Durham Bulls until finally making the jump to the big leagues in 2012.
Vitale, who is a season-ticket holder with the Rays, lambasted the trade in a pair of tweets. He even threw some shade at the Rays but it might as well been directed at the Bulls.
“This SUCKS / As a @RaysBaseball season ticket holder this really bothers me if valid / we pay for @MLB not Triple A,” was Vitale’s tweet.

It didn’t take long for the Bulls to respond.
“Whoa, Dickie... thought we were cool,” the Bulls tweeted back.
Maybe Vitale needs to take another look at the Bulls. They’re coming off a championship season and are loaded with young talent. Jake Hager and Willie Adames will be in Tampa before Vitale realizes it and maybe making another playoff run.
