When Rob Lowe comes to Durham, he has a couple of hotspots he likes to hit.

He plans to be in Durham May 18 for his Durham Performing Arts Center tour stop for “Stories I Only Tell My Friends” so be on the lookout for him out on the town.

“I’ll hit the local hot spots again,” Lowe said in a Twitter video. “For me, that’s Shooters and the Waffle House.”

He said he may have a guide for his stop, here. His son Matthew graduated from Duke in 2016 and now is a first-year law student at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.

Much of Lowe’s material for the show comes from his two memoirs “Stories I Only Tell My Friends” and “Love Life.” But he said the show isn’t just him retelling the stories from the books. Lowe gives an all-new take on Hollywood, fame, fatherhood and marriage. That includes tales from his Brat Pack days to his time on “The West Wing” and “Parks and Rec.”

“I’ve been touring the country,” Lowe said. “It’s been really, really fun. Come to the show, it will be fun.”
