Durham police investigating shooting on West Lakewood Avenue
Police are investigating a shooting that happened early Friday morning on West Lakewood Avenue.
Officers responded shortly after 8 a.m. to the BP station at 218 W. Lakewood Ave., near the University Drive intersection, police spokeswoman Kammie Michael reported. They found a man who had been shot several times, she said in a news release.
Police reported their early investigation found that the man was driving on Lakewood Avenue when the occupants of a small silver SUV behind him fired several shots at his vehicle. The man turned into the parking lot of the convenience store to get help and the silver vehicle kept going, they said.
The man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. No further details were immediately available, Michael said.
