A driver was seriously injured in a collision late Thursday night on N.C. 55 near Riddle Road when the car he was driving rear-ended a city street sweeping vehicle.
Speed and alcohol appeared to have been factors in the accident, according to Durham police investigators.
The crash happened around 11:45 p.m. Thursday when a 2006 Chrysler 300 driven by Jesse Rasham Franks crashed into the right rear bumper of a city street sweeper operated by Snydor Bey, Durham Police Department spokeswoman Kammie Michael said.
The street sweeper was in the left northbound lane of N.C. 55 where Bey was sweeping the roadway when the crash occurred. Investigators found that all the equipment, including warning flashers, on the street sweeper was functioning properly.
