Duke informs campus of armed robbery early Sunday evening at Duke Gardens

Duke University police said Sunday night that an armed robbery took place at about 5 p.m. Sunday at the Doris Duke Center at the Sarah P. Duke Gardens on West Campus.

The Duke police announced the incident as a crime alert to students, faculty and campus workers.

According to Duke police, the suspect approached an individual at the Doris Duke Center and displayed a silver handgun and demanded money. No injuries were reported. The suspect was last seen fleeing the Doris Duke Center.

The suspect is described as a black male about 5-foot-9 to 6-feet tall, with a thin build. He was wearing a pink striped long-sleeve shirt and dark pants. He wore a ski mask and had short dreadlocks.
