Alleged Durham hotel robber left the towels, went for the cash
A man who police said recently robbed two Durham hotels has been arrested.
Alito Cross, 40, was arrested by members of the U.S. Marshals Service Joint Fugitive Task Force on East Ellerbee Street, according to a press release.
Cross was charged with robbing Crossland Economy Suites at 5008 N.C. 55 Highway on Sept. 27. He was described as a man wearing a mask. He entered the lobby, displayed a gun and demanded money, according to police. He received an undisclosed amount of cash and fled.
Cross also was charged with a robbery at Home2Suites at 3305 Watkins Road on Oct. 27. In this incident, police said he entered the business and demanded money. He acted as if he had a gun in his pocket, police said.
Cross was charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was being held at the Durham County jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.
