Local and state law enforcement will take part in a joint-agency DWI checkpoint program within Durham County between now and July 31.
The exact dates, times and locations were not announced. Participating will be the Durham County Sheriff's Office, the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the Durham Police Department and campus police at Duke University and North Carolina Central University
As part of the Booze It & Lose It campaign, officials at check stations will attempt to identify impaired drivers and remove them from the road.
Drivers may notice an increased law enforcement presence at the DWI check station locations for several hours, the Durham County Sheriff’s Office said.
