DURHAM

Firefighters closed the left lanes of U.S. 70 in both directions near the East End Connector construction project after a wreck that included a truck hauling food.

Firefighters called for state Department of Transportation crews to spread sand on the pavement because of liquids believed to be leaking from the truck’s cargo.

U.S. 70 was affected between Carr Road and East End Avenue, officials said.

The crash happened about 10 a.m.
