Builders’ blitz provides homes for 5 families
Habitat for Humanity of Durham and local homebuilders teamed up for seven days — Friday-Friday, June 2-9 — to build homes for five local families in need of affordable housing as part of the organization’s annual Home Builders Blitz.
They were scheduled to complete their efforts Friday.
During Habitat for Humanity’s Home Builders Blitz week, professional builders nationwide built or renovated homes for more than 200 families.
Local Durham homebuilders Durham Building Company, B Wallace Design and Construction, BuildSense, Thayer Homes and Garman Homes worked around the clock for the week to build homes that the Byrd, Hanks, McClain, Stewart and White families are purchasing from Habitat for Humanity of Durham.
The houses are located at 509 and 511 Bingham St. and 2608, 2612 and 2614 Angier Ave. at its intersection with Bingham Street.
