Tickets to Noah Kahan’s upcoming concert in Raleigh are sold out, but anyone planning to drive to the show at Carter-Finley Stadium should consider purchasing parking now.

Waiting to pay until you show up to the concert will cost you.

Ahead of the concert, you’ll have to dish out $40 online for a space in general parking. But that’s easier to stomach than the $60 you’ll have to pay at the July 25 concert, according to the event website.

Organizers are also encouraging concertgoers to arrive at Carter-Finley early, to avoid traffic congestion and delays. (Parking lots open at 1:30 p.m., three hours before the gates open. The show won’t start until around 6:30 p.m.)

High-demand events like these have been known to clog the roads around the stadiums, sometimes causing paying customers to miss their shows. But that’s an issue for another story.

Haven’t we heard this before?

If you’re getting deja vu, it’s because just a couple of months ago, fans attending Carolina Hurricanes games at the next-door Lenovo Center faced similarly high parking fees.

In Round 2 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, when the Canes played the Philadelphia Flyers, parking cost $45 in advance and $60 on site.

Prices continued to rise from there.

By the time the Canes made it to the Stanley Cup Final, facing the Vegas Golden Knights, parking reached $65 for fans who paid in advance, and $95 for the poor souls who didn’t.

Can you avoid paying for parking?

Fans attending the Raleigh concert, a stop on Kahan’s “The Great Divide” tour, can use rideshare such as Uber or Lyft, to avoid driving and parking altogether. Of course, that option comes with its own set of fees, which are likely to increase as the concert approaches. And though you wouldn’t be the one driving, there’s still the issue of traffic congestion around the stadium.

It is possible to take the bus, though it would require a little more planning than hopping in a car.

GoRaleigh’s Blue Ridge (27L) route stops on Blue Ridge Road at Trinity Road, which is around a half-mile from Carter-Finley Stadium.

It’s a link route and doesn’t stop downtown. Some people may need to transfer to the Blue Ridge route from another route, such as GoRaleigh routes 4, 6, 9 and 16, which all run through downtown Raleigh.

Then there’s the question of timing. Riders would want to make sure that by the time they leave the concert, buses are still running. Routes 4, 6, 9 and 16 stop service at different times, but all travel until at least 10 p.m. on Saturdays.
