Triangle Town Center shooting involved assault on employee, police say
Three people were wounded in a gunfight at Triangle Town Center Friday after a group of juveniles confronted and assaulted an employee working there, police said.
Raleigh police updated their account of the incident Saturday, adding that three juvenile suspects approached an employee before the fight broke out near the Express store.
All three juveniles assaulted the mall employee, who then produced a handgun, police said. The mall employee and one of the juveniles were injured and stayed on the scene until officers arrived. Two more juveniles fled, one of whom was injured.
Police recovered two guns at the scene.
Three people remained hospitalized Saturday and a fourth juvenile was released to parents, police said..
Police originally reported that two people had been wounded but issued an update at 6 p.m. that a third person had been shot, and also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Police stressed that there is no further threat to the public.
Last week, Raleigh police detained two men after reports that someone in a red pickup had fired shots at a group of men in the parking lot.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
